Jason Burke knew how to handle a measly throat hold from commando training in Fort Leavenworth. In Afghanistan he would just wrench the arm like a sling against the upward heave of his right shoulder to break it by the elbow socket. He held back this time and let the stubby fingers of the roguish oppressor choke him by the Adam’s apple.

He could imagine Tracy saying to him” you are simply not cut out for undercover work.” “Your temper gets the better of you like Rambo.” “You will just blow your cover in some hot dingy alley when the tropical sun singes your head”. Jason made sure to look awkward when he pitched forward to break the man’s hold. To add dramatic effect, he coughed hoarsely.

Jason fell back on his haunches but pulled the stocky man’s left foot with him. In the same motion he extended and slid both feet on the ground to snag the detective’s other foot like a pincer and pinned it the reverse way. It was the biggest split ever done outside the ballet stage.

The stricken man’s howling brought the other black leatherette jacket over denim pants garbed agent running with his sidearm drawn towards the fray. The driver cried hoarsely but his wailing got stifled by the blood and the phlegmatic discharge that filled his mouth. Two other wide girthed squad members made sure to stomp him back to the sun baked road surface. “Oh no”, Jason tried to think quickly on the ground as he felt the stilled weight of his opponent slump down over him.
